J.E. Case, a family-owned and operated business located in N. Attleboro, Massachusetts. Founded in 1951 by John Case Jr., the company has several operating divisions, including construction, materials, recycling, and snow & ice management. John Case III runs the company today, along with his sons and an experienced management team.
Several years ago, Jason Case began to take a strong interest in the snow division of the company after working with a large scale snow operation during college in New Hampshire. With Jason's leading, the company joined SIMA to gain more knowledge in this area. He recognized that he needed an experienced advisor to help his family business capitalize on the opportunities he saw in the snow & ice management industry.
Jason’s vision for the snow division was clear – to grow it into a powerful force – but he knew he needed help to do so. It was evident that the snow division needed its own identity in order to realize its potential, as Jason’s drive to grow the snow division was held back by the complexities of being intertwined with the other divisions of J.E. Case.

The Solution
John, Jason, and Bill Carello, the controller of the J.E. Case, met with Pro-Motion Consulting at the SIMA Symposium and entered into an arrangement. A new entity was formed – Case Snow Management, Inc. This new entity initially operated as a division of J.E. Case before eventually becoming separated from the family business. In doing so, a new set of issues emerged regarding the branding and marketing of this new entity, organizational structure, process development, etc.
Pro-Motion Consulting worked side-by-side with Jason, Bill, and John – even facilitating sessions with the J.E. Case leadership team to assist with the implementation of changes that were occurring. As this endeavor proceeded, it became more and more evident that Case Snow Management needed to exist outside of J.E. Case and plans were developed to bring this to bear. This was a difficult situation, as it involved many family members, each with unique interests in the business.
The Result
Today, Case Snow Management, Inc. is one of the leading providers of snow & ice management services in New England. The company is stable, growing, and profitable, with multiple CSP's on staff. Jason is actively involved with SIMA's leadership as a board member and past co-chair of the Symposium committee.

Evergreen Landscaping and Snow Management Inc. are based in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Pro-Motion Consulting was brought in initially to critique the company’s snow & ice management business – to review existing processes and make recommendations for improvement. During the first meeting between the owners and Phil Harwood, it became clear that there were other challenges and opportunities to be explored.
Despite having business degrees and several years of hands-on experience, the owners were young with limited insight into how to operate a successful business at a high level while growing at a fast pace. In addition, several significant opportunities involving new business ventures were identified. This younger management team knew it needed outside assistance to help them navigate the waters and avoid costly mistakes.

The Solution
The Evergreen team engaged Pro-Motion Consulting and began to meet with them on a monthly basis, often with multiple days per month spent working on a variety of initiatives. A holding company – Evergreen Companies – was formed, along with other entities. New logos were developed. Brand campaigns were launched. Websites were built. Structured partnership meetings were developed. Financial budgets were created. Accounting systems were changed. Estimating and proposal processes were implemented. With the assistance of Pro-Motion Consulting, the Evergreen team had found not only an advisor but a key member of their team.
The Result
Results for the Evergreen family of companies have been dramatic. With the support of Pro-Motion Consulting, the company has blossomed into a multi-entity holding company with a strong growth plan and a clear vision. While much work remains, the company is well positioned to acquire additional market share and penetrate new service areas.
Recently a large four-year seasonal contract was awarded to Snow Management, Inc. Pro-Motion Consulting assisted greatly with the development of the pricing model, snow response plan, and the presentation of the proposal, along with subsequent negotiations.
